Genuine Leather Care

Leather is breathable and flexible just like skin. All it takes are just the right suitable techniques you’ll need to maintain it as leather is inherently resilient.

The basics to leather care are to make sure that their material remains well conditioned while preventing dirt buildup and salt/water damage. You would need a good-quality leather cream and moisturizer to keep the leather fibers looking healthy and new. In applying any product, be sure not to apply external sources of heat other than your hands.

Leather Cream

To ensure that your leather products are able to withstand the test of time with flying colors, using a delicate leather cream is very crucial. Over time, almost everything will gather dirt and grime. This is especially true for leather, which can often be a grime and dirt magnet due to the composition of its material. However, dirt and grime can be easily taken care off when using a delicate leather cream.

Directions:

  1. Wipe away any of the excess dirt and debris with a slightly damp cloth.
  2. Then, take a clean cloth and your leather cream and gently work the formula onto the leather uppers in slow, circular motions.
  3. Make sure not to rub the leather too hard. Once finished, allow half an hour for the shoe cream to take on effect.
  4. Polish the leather with a cloth or brush. This not only makes it shine but also removes any excess shoe cream from the leather.
  5. Ensure the surface is completely dry before storing/using.
  6. Recommended to use it weekly.

Leather Moisturizer

When it comes to pampering and protecting your bag against drying and cracking, a proper leather-care ritual is needed. To ensure that your leather products stay supple and waterproof, using a leather moisturizer can help do the trick! You can use good water repellent, to give your leather boots that added layer of protection.

Directions:

  1. Apply a nickel-sized amount of leather moisturizer to a polishing cloth or clean rag—never directly to the handbag.
  2. Then gently rub the cloth into the leather with a light coating.
  3. Use a clean spot on the cloth for each dollop of leather moisturizer.
  4. Just like any leather moisturizer, allow the leather to set between 10 to 20 minutes until it’s fully absorbed.

Patent Leather Care

Learning how to clean patent leather shoes is easy, but they must be cared for differently than ordinary calfskin shoes. The looks for patent leather can vary between smooth or embossed, or it can have a crumpled appearance. Because of this, it is recommended that you frequently use a cleaning cloth. It’s also wise to use a gentle foam product for cleaning and retaining the elasticity of the patent leather material. Special liquid products or sprays are the perfect solutions to consider handling patent leather.

Directions:

  1. Take a damp cloth and begin to wipe away any dust or debris that has accumulated onto the leather material.
  2. Apply a thick layer of your liquid product or spray that is specially formulated for all patent leathers.
  3. Allow the leather to dry.
  4. Lastly, buff the patent leather to a high shine using a cotton chamois. This will help work up the high-gloss shine.
